MyNetworkTV Is Making Moves

Now, that the 2008-2009 season is in full gear, MyNetworkTV is ready to tweak the lineup some more. In eleven days (from October 18), MyNetworkTV is debuting their comedy series, “Shaken, Not Stirred.” The show is hosted by D.L. Hughley and will feature Al Sharpton among others. “Shaken” will take the 9:00 spot, thus forcing Arsenio Hall to relocate. I’m thinking that MyNet will be moving Aresnio’s show to either Thursday or Monday. In addition to this, “The Eddie Griffin Show” will be taking the 9:00 spot over once he has completed his series with VH1. From this point on, Eddie Griffin will be holding down the 9:00 spot. This will force both D.L. and Arsenio to new nights. I am thinking that My Thursday Night Movie might be merged into My Saturday Night Movie. This opens up Thursday. Also, if MyNet is serious about getting Damon Wayans on board for “Never Better,” I think that he will also occupy the Thursday night slot. But, MyNetworkTV has come a long way from their 2006 start. All telenovelas, then all reality shows, now black entertainment. MyNetworkTV has quickly transformed into a contender for ratings as they are guaranteed wins on Friday, and are in third on Wednesdays. Now, not only The CW has to watch out (NBC). My money’s on the underdog.
