Already, it has been a Year
Not everyone likes Barack Obama. Looking at the comments left here on any article that gives him credit, that is clear. But, looking back just one year ago, happy days had returned.
Looking back, America was deep in The Great Recession. On television, all that could be seen was George W. Bush and “Dick” Cheney making excuses. Then, there was Republican candidate, John McCain trying to become president.
On the other side, however, was Barack Obama. His messages were inspiring and on November 4, 2008, he did the unthinkable when he was elected to the office of president in a landslide. The celebration began immediately after Obama won California and its 55 electoral votes.
Right into the night and the morning, the celebration continued. On the morning of November 5, 2008, America had awaken to see their first black president. Those who lived black in America through the Civil Rights Movement took special pride in seeing Barack Obama elected to president.
From that point on, black America had something that was not sports-related. Black America was just getting used to saying that the president is black. People say that time is flying and Election Night has been a year ago, so an agreement can be reached on that point.
If Election Night and the November 5, 2008 celebration has already been a year ago, time has definitely flown by. Hope and morale was high as the president took office. Everything has not gone as planned, but America is on the track to recovery.
