FOX may cancel “Brothers”
Around this time last year, there was outrage due to the lack of programming geared towards black people. The final result was the creation of more television pilots aimed at black America.
Among those pilots created, the most notable one was “Brothers.” The show was set to star Michael Strahan, a former NFL player, Darryl “Chill” Mitchell, and C.C.H. Pounder. In other words, the show had an all-star cast.
Despite the cast and the promotion from black-themed outlets, it was obvious that FOX was not too enthusiastic about the series. From the gate, it was given a bad time slot because it was placed on Friday nights. Things never looked too great for “Brothers.”
Now, things are looking downright bad for the sitcom. The ratings are extremely low and FOX has began airing repeats of the show. In addition to that, they are not picking up any new episodes of the series. Instead, they are opting to air the season finale in December.
“Brothers” will not be running for the entire 2009-2010 season and that is a bad sign within itself. The way things are looking, BET will have to go ahead and save “Brothers,” too.
