South Dakota goes for McCain

John McCain will carry Nebraska

Senator John McCain picks up a much-needed win in reliably Republican state, Nebraska. This cuts into Obama’s lead just a tiny bit. Nebraska can divide their electoral votes into which congression district supported who. But, McCain will defenitely carry 3 of the 5 electoral votes.

Barack Obama wins Iowa, Utah for McCain

McCain gets Mississippi

Traditionally a red state in the past few years. Early on, John McCain expected to easily win this state, but Barack Obama made this race close. Soon, Mississippi became a swing state. Then, too close to call, but it indeed stayed true to color and stayed with McCain.

John McCain carrys Texas

John McCain gets the Republican stronghold of Texas in the 2008 election. McCain has picked up the second-largest electoral prize out there. The state trends Republican. This is a big win for Senator McCain, but he still trails by a significant amount.

Barack Obama wins New Mexico
